How to sum up our phenomenal sky in a few paragraphs, webpages and pictures? Well... let's just say that I couldn't manage it, but our dear friend Wikipedia.Org certainly could! :) At that page, you can view the following content:
- Wikipedia.Org - The Sky
- What is the sky?
- Why is the sky so colourful?
- What are the scientific terms for the sky?
- What are the religious ideas of the sky?
The sky is such a broad subject because it also covers other opitical phenomena such as clouds, sunsets and sunrises (though this fanlisting is just for the sky in general. There are seperate fanlistings for other sky-related subjects such as clouds and sunrises.)
some ideas; The sky is truly phenomenal. Hey, there are even extraterrestrial skies out there too! The sky is something that allows us to feel stunned, thrilled, in awe and in total admiration of our natural world that we are lost for words as to what to do with ourselves; as to how such a beautiful picture can be painted in the sky, all the perfect hues, colours, changes that curl and smudge together, meshing with pure, innocent happiness.
It's fair to say that, truly, no painter can achieve what the sky can achieve. Just looking at the sky can even invoke a period of deep spiritual questioning of your beliefs - is there a God? Who is up there? Why do clouds in a sunset sky sometimes look like the heavens, like mountains, like freedom? Can I ever get there?
Aside from the spiritual questions, there are also the practical and scientific ones, such as, Why is the sky so colourful? Why do clouds move differently? Why is the sky blue, when really, out there it's all black space?
The sky - our sky - an object of the world's pure unity as it one day maybe was and should always be, is something that I desire to choose to teach my children with. Yes, I believe that periods of soft music as we lie on a field and watch the sky changing, erupting, transforming is really a wonderful way of teaching your children the wonders of the natural world, as well as invoking spiritual and practical ideas from them. The sky. Our sky. Don't let it pass you by! Watch it, admire it, learn from it and understand it. And adore it. :*)
